Activating a site

How do I enable BrowserAmp on a website?

Open a video page, open BrowserAmp Video, and select Settings. Under Enabled websites, enable the highlighted website and approve the browser permission. Start the video. If controls or optimized detection do not appear, reload the video page.

How do I know which site is enabled?

The button at the top shows Site Active when the current website is enabled. Select it to open the website settings. The current website appears first in the list and is expanded; you can expand other enabled websites to change their settings.

Does enabling a website enable every website?

You choose which websites BrowserAmp can work on. An enabled website entry includes its subdomains, as indicated in Settings. You can disable that entry later; reload its open pages to remove controls that are already present.

Will every website work?

No. Websites use different players, formats, and content protections, and player updates can affect compatibility. Optimized Recording may be unavailable even when Standard recording works. Some videos cannot be captured with either method. If a website is not working as expected, contact support with its domain, what you tried, and the error shown.

Snapshots

What do snapshots show?

Snapshots are periodically refreshed still previews of detected video feeds on enabled websites. You can view them in the side panel or full dashboard and use their controls to start or stop recordings. They are not separate live video players.

Why does a feed say “Activate tab” or show an old image?

Some players do not start properly until you visit their tab. Open the source tab and make sure its video is playing, then select Refresh in BrowserAmp. A paused stream, suspended tab, or player that prevents image capture can also leave a preview unavailable.

How do I change the refresh interval?

In Settings, change Snapshot refresh interval. It accepts whole seconds, with a minimum of one second. Shorter intervals update previews more often and can increase browser work.

What does the × on a snapshot do?

It closes the source browser tab, not just its preview. Middle-clicking a snapshot card also closes that tab. Stop and save any active recording before closing its source tab.

Recording — Standard

How do I start and stop a recording?

Select Record on the video, in Snapshots, or in the full dashboard. Select Stop to finish and save the recording temporarily. Open the Recordings tab and choose Review & edit to preview, trim, or download it.

How does Standard recording work?

Standard recording captures the supported video player’s output and encodes a new recording locally. BrowserAmp uses it when optimized capture is not ready, or when you choose Standard recording for that recording.

Why is Record disabled?

The video may be loading, changing quality, or unavailable for browser capture. Standard recording normally limits video height to 980 pixels. Hold Ctrl while clicking Record to override that resolution limit. The override does not bypass website restrictions or plan limits.

How can I reduce stuttering?

For Standard recording, try selecting 720p at 30 fps in the website’s player and reducing other demanding browser or app activity. Encoding, storage delays, and player behavior can affect smoothness. Optimized Recording can reduce encoding work when it is available.

What happens if playback is interrupted?

Already saved recording chunks may be recoverable in Recordings. Some interruptions can be tolerated, while a closed tab, browser restart, incompatible stream change, or storage failure can stop capture. Check the saved footage before relying on it; missing footage cannot be recovered.

Recording — Optimized

What does the lightning bolt beside Record mean?

The lightning bolt means Optimized Recording is ready. During recording, it indicates that optimized capture is being used. BrowserAmp saves compatible encoded video and audio already received by the player, without downloading the stream a second time or re-encoding it.

Do I need to select Optimized Recording each time?

No. With the website set to Auto (recommended), BrowserAmp uses optimized capture when it is ready and otherwise uses Standard recording. A green Ready status in the website settings and the lightning bolt on Record indicate availability.

Why is optimized capture unavailable on a playing video?

The player may use an unsupported stream type or format, protected media, or a playback method BrowserAmp cannot observe. Detection can also miss the initialization data sent when playback begins. Reload the page before recording to check again. A video playing normally does not guarantee optimized compatibility.

What do Auto, Always check, and Standard only mean?

These options are under each enabled website in Settings. Auto checks compatibility and can temporarily pause future checks after repeated unsupported results. Always check keeps checking on that website. Standard only uses Standard recording. After changing the option or selecting Check again, reload the video page to apply it.

Can the video quality change during optimized capture?

Yes. Supported quality changes can be retained in the same recording, following the data the player receives. BrowserAmp does not impose its Standard recording resolution cap on optimized capture. Incompatible format or timing changes can still stop capture, and some transitions may have a visible or audible interruption.

Does Optimized Recording have limits?

Yes. Your Free or Pro recording duration limit still applies. The current optimized recorder also has a 256 MiB data limit per recording, so a high-bitrate stream can reach that limit before the time limit. Optimized capture still uses local memory and storage.

Holding Ctrl

How do I force Standard recording?

Hold Ctrl while clicking Record on the video, in Snapshots, or in the full dashboard. The lightning bolt disappears while Ctrl is held, indicating Standard recording. This also overrides the normal 980p resolution limit for that recording. You can release Ctrl after it starts.

Does Ctrl change a recording already in progress?

No. It does not switch an active recording between Standard and Optimized. Stop the current recording before starting another with a different method. Holding Ctrl while recording has separate actions depending on where you use it.

What does Ctrl do while recording?

On the video, holding Ctrl reveals Discard and Immediate Download. Discard deletes that capture; Immediate Download stops it and prepares the full recording for download. In Snapshots and the dashboard, holding Ctrl changes the active recording button to Discard. Clicking it deletes the recording. Ctrl-clicking Stop is not a shortcut for saving the full video.

Storage & recordings

Where are recordings stored?

Recordings and their previews are stored temporarily in this browser profile on your device. BrowserAmp does not upload your recorded video to its servers. Download a recording to save it as a normal file outside the extension.

How long are temporary recordings kept?

Temporary recordings expire 24 hours after creation. The Recordings tab shows the time remaining. Download anything you want to keep before it expires; temporary storage is not a permanent video library.

What happens if I uninstall BrowserAmp?

Uninstalling removes recordings held only in the extension’s browser storage. Clearing that storage can also remove them. Files you have already downloaded to a normal folder are separate and remain available.

How do I review or delete a recording?

Open Recordings and choose Review & edit to open the editor. Choose Delete to remove a temporary recording. Deleting it in BrowserAmp does not remove a copy you already downloaded.

Why can recording stop before my plan’s time limit?

The time limit is a maximum, not a guarantee. Available storage, recording-data limits, browser or player interruptions, and sustained storage delays can end a capture sooner. Check any message shown and review the footage retained in Recordings.

Editing & downloads

Why does a large recording take time to open?

BrowserAmp has to read the stored data and prepare a playable video locally. Longer recordings and optimized recordings containing quality changes can take more time. The editor shows a loading message while preparing the video.

How do I trim or download the full recording?

Open Review & edit from Recordings. Adjust the start and end handles, use Preview selection, then choose Save trimmed video. To keep everything, choose Download full video. You do not need a keyboard shortcut.

Why is a trim not exactly on the selected frame?

Fast Trim avoids re-encoding. A playable start generally needs a keyframe, so the saved start can differ from the selected point. Check the actual saved boundaries reported by the editor and preview the downloaded result. For exact cuts, use a video editor that can re-encode.

Can I trim across a quality change?

Supported optimized recordings can be joined and trimmed across retained quality changes without re-encoding. This is not a guarantee for every stream transition: incompatible timing or codec changes may prevent export, and a transition may still produce a brief interruption. Preview the result, including its audio.

Settings & background playback

What does Refresh CDN cached images do?

It refreshes supported cached snapshot and thumbnail image URLs when their timestamp is at least 15 seconds old. It applies to supported website images; it is separate from BrowserAmp’s Snapshot refresh interval.

What is an exact-page reload?

Under an enabled website, you can configure a reload interval for a specific page. This reloads that webpage, rather than just updating its snapshot. Reloading a source page can interrupt a recording, so avoid scheduling reloads on pages you intend to record continuously.

What does “Only reload after 5 seconds without activity” mean?

When a scheduled page reload is due, BrowserAmp waits until there have been no clicks, scrolling, typing, pointer movement, or touch activity for at least five seconds. This setting does not mean that a video has stopped playing.

Will videos keep playing in background tabs?

BrowserAmp attempts to keep videos active on enabled websites by adjusting page visibility and focus signals. A website or the browser may still pause or suspend playback. If a feed stops updating, visit its source tab and check the player.

Full dashboard

How do I open the dashboard?

Choose Open full dashboard from the side panel. It opens a larger view for monitoring detected feeds, managing recordings, and accessing settings.

How do feeds appear?

Open video pages on enabled websites and start their players. BrowserAmp detects eligible open tabs and lists feeds within your plan’s snapshot limit. There is no separate video-upload step. If a feed is missing, activate its source tab and select Refresh.

Can I record several feeds?

Free supports one recording at a time. Pro removes that simultaneous-recording limit, but each source must remain available and your computer must have enough processing capacity and storage. Starting a recording from the dashboard still captures the source player.

Licensing & plans

How do I activate Pro?

Open Settings in BrowserAmp Video. Under Compare plans, find Already purchased Pro?, enter your key, and select Activate / validate license. A successful activation changes the plan badge to PRO and the section heading to Thank you for your purchase!

What does Pro add?

Free allows recordings up to one minute, one recording at a time, five snapshot feeds, and three enabled websites. Pro allows recordings up to six hours and removes those limits on simultaneous recordings, snapshot feeds, and enabled websites. Device capacity, website compatibility, and the optimized recording data limit still apply.

Can I move my license to another installation?

Use Deactivate license in Settings on an installation you no longer need, then activate the key in the other installation. Activations are tied to browser installations or profiles. Your license’s activation allowance still applies; contact support if you cannot access an old installation.

Why will my key not activate?

Check the key, your internet connection, and the error shown in Settings. The license may have reached its activation allowance or need another purchase-related issue resolved. Select Billing or license in the contact form if you need help.

What if I lost my license key?

Open Lemon Squeezy My Orders and enter the email address used at checkout. Follow the sign-in link emailed to you to access your purchase and license key. If you no longer have access to that email address, contact BrowserAmp support.
